WHY ARE THE PEOPLE OF THE

WORLD LOST?

IT IS BECAUSE THEY DENY JESUS!

“I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

“Who are you?” they asked. “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus replied (John 8:24-25).

To receive the gift of eternal life you have to turn away from your sins and put your faith, which is your voluntary trust and hope, in the Lord Jesus Christ (see Acts 20:21). You need to know who Jesus is so that you can really trust Him. Then you find that Jesus is worthy of all your love. The glory of Christ is revealed by the names and titles that speak of His divine nature and sovereign attributes. This is who Jesus is:

1. The Creator of All Things – “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3).

2. The Righteous Judge – “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

3. The One Who Came Down from Heaven – “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world” (John 6:51).

4. The Light of the World – “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’” (John 8:12).

5. The Saviour of the World – “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world” (1 John 4:14).

6. The Forgiver of Sin – “Then Jesus said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ The other guests began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this who even forgives sins?’” (Luke 7:48-49).

7. The Giver of Eternal Life – “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:28).

8. The Prophet above All Other Prophets – “On hearing his words, some of the people said, ‘Surely this man is the Prophet’” (John 7:40).

9. The Eternal Son of God – “The high priest said to him, ‘I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.’ ‘Yes, it is as you say,’ Jesus replied” (Matthew 26:63b-64a).

10. One With God and Equal with His Heavenly Father – “For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his

own Father, making himself equal with God” (John 5:18).

11. The Ruler of God’s Kingdom – “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place” (John 18:36).

12. The Lion of the Tribe of Judah – “Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals’” (Revelation 5:5).

13. The Lamb of God Who Shed His Holy Blood – “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’” (John 1:29).

14. The Suffering Servant Who Shows Us God’s Love and Humility – “rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:7-8).

15. The Risen Conqueror of Death – “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1:18).

16. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords – “On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16).

17. The Second Person of the Holy Trinity – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

18. The True God – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).

19. The Healer, The Deliverer, and The Baptizer with The Holy Spirit – “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him” (Acts 10:38).

20. The Only Way to God and the Only Name by which We Must Be Saved – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6); also see Acts 4:12.

Jesus is the One to love, be devoted to, and follow. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Understand His glory and never deny the Sovereign Lordship of Christ.

JESUS IS LORD!
