The False Prophet of LDS

Mormons use the name of Jesus Christ to lead people to

a false prophet called Joseph Smith

Mormonism (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) stands or falls on the story of Joseph Smith. They claim that he was a prophet of God, but in fact he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen.

‘Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God’ (2 John 9).

NINE REASONS WHY JOSEPH SMITH WAS A FALSE PROPHET

1) HE MADE BOASTFUL CLAIMS ABOUT HIMSELF – This is what he said to exalt himself: “I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet” (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Vol.6. p.408-409).

There are false religions and false cults in this world because of the people who try to exalt themselves above Jesus Christ.

2) HE GAVE FALSE PROPHECIES – These are the words of Joseph Smith from a prophecy that he gave in 1843: “‘I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written—the Son of Man will not come in the clouds of heaven till I am 85 years old’ (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.286). He also said, ‘The coming of the Lord, which was nigh—even for 56 years should wind up the scene’ (History of the Church, Vol.2, p.182).

Joseph Smith did not live until he was 85 and 56 years since he made his prophecy have long gone. The Lord did not return as he predicted because he was a false prophet. He gave many other false prophecies (http://mormoninfo.org/false-prophecies).

3) HE TAUGHT CONTRADICTIONS – The Book of Mormon teaches that Jesus was to be born in Jerusalem (Alma 7:10); yet everyone who has heard the Christmas story knows that the Bible teaches that Jesus was born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Luke 2:4). Jerusalem was never called Bethlehem.

Mormon teachings contradict the Bible. Joseph Smith claimed that John the Baptist came down from heaven and conferred on him the Priesthood of Aaron; yet the Bible teaches that there is no need for a priest to come in the line of Aaron (Hebrews 7:11). Joseph Smith claimed that he had to restore the Aaronic Priesthood to the church; yet Jesus has made the old covenant and priesthood obsolete because Christ is our High Priest (Hebrews 8:13). Therefore the authority claimed by Joseph Smith and the Mormon Church is not valid.

4) HE PRACTICED WITCHCRAFT – Joseph Smith practiced “glass looking,” a nineteenth century term for crystal-ball gazing. He was convicted of this in a Bainbridge, New York court (Court records found by Rev. Wesley P. Walters, Oct 28, 1971, certified by E.M. Crumb, Clerk of the Board, Mar. 31, 1980).

After his death, Joseph was found to be carrying a magic talisman on his person which was sacred to Jupiter and designed to bring him power and success in seducing woman (No Help for the Widow’s Son, by Reed C. Durham, 1980, pp.22ff).

Joseph Smith was openly involved in Freemasonry and witchcraft at the time when he formulated the rituals of the Mormon Temple. He would use seer stones to search for hidden treasures and to promote fraud and deception (http://www.utlm.org/newsletters/no95.htm). There is a spirit of witchcraft which confuses and deceives people into following Joseph Smith when they accept the Book of Mormon.

5) HE PRACTICED POLYGAMY – Joseph Smith committed large sale adultery and fornicated with underage girls. His first plural wife was Fannie Algar, a teenager who was living in their house at the time (No Man Knows My History, by Fawn M. Brodie, 1945, pp. 335-36). He had many illegal marriages, and including these he had at least thirty-four wives. He also married a fourteen year old (http://www.wivesofjosephsmith.org). At least seven of his wives were still married to other living men at the same time Joseph married them (To Moroni with Love – by Ed Decker p.30).

Joseph Smith was an adulterer and according to the Word of God no adulterer can enter the kingdom of Heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Revelation 21:8). Therefore, Joseph Smith would have gone to Hell when he died. He refused to repent and promoted polygamy until his end.

6) HE KILLED TWO MEN BY SHOOTING THEM – The Mormon Church speaks of Joseph Smith as being a martyr for their faith, yet the facts are quite different. When Joseph had a revelation that polygamy could be practiced by the Mormon leaders there was a lot of opposition from the surrounding community. When a local newspaper boldly reported a story to expose the polygamy that was going on, Joseph ordered the building of this newspaper to be burned down. This resulted in Joseph Smith and two other Mormon leaders being put in jail.

Joseph killed two men and wounded a third, before he and his brother, Hyrum, were then killed in the exchange of gunfire. Joseph Smith died in a gunfight (History of the Church, vol. 7, p. 102-3; Vol. 6, pps 617-618; The Gospel Kingdom by John Taylor, p.360). True Christian martyrs don’t shoot back and kill other people. Joseph Smith was definitely not a martyr, but rather a murderer, even though he himself was then murdered. A person reaps what they sow.

7) HE PREACHED A DIFFERENT GOD – Joseph Smith taught, “God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens!!! ... We have imagined that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil, so that you may see” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345).

Joseph Smith sought to refute the God of the Bible, yet the God of the Bible refutes Joseph Smith by saying: “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me” (Isaiah 43:10).

“This is what the LORD says—Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God… You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one” (Isaiah 44:6,8). Who are you going to follow? The false god of Mormonism or the eternal God of the Bible? The god of Joseph Smith was not the God of the Bible.

8) HE BELIEVED THAT MORMONS COULD BECOME GODS – In his last recorded sermon just prior to his death, Joseph Smith challenged his people to learn to become gods: “you have got to learn how to be gods yourselves... the same as all gods have done before you...” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp.345-47). Teaching his followers to become gods, shows why the early Mormon leaders exalted Joseph Smith to a god-like status.

When Brigham Young (the 2nd President of Mormonism) died his last words were: “Joseph, Joseph, Joseph!” (A Comprehensive History of the Church, vol. 5, p. 509). He made Joseph Smith his Lord and Saviour instead of Jesus. Yet Christianity teaches that salvation is found in Jesus alone (Acts 4:12), and you must take Jesus as your Lord and God (John 20:28).

9) HE PREACHED A DIFFERENT GOSPEL – The apostle Paul gave us this warning: ‘But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!’ (Galatians 1:8).

Mormonism has its origin from an angel from Heaven called Moroni. Joseph Smith claimed that an angel told him where to dig for some gold plates. With the help of a pair of spectacles, it was alleged that Smith was able to translate the writings on these gold plates. The result was the published Book of Mormon. Mormon churches never have a cross because the cross is the centre of the true gospel (1 Corinthians 1:18).

MAKE YOUR DECISION

Followers of the Mormon Church have made the mistake of trusting their eternal salvation in a system set up by a man who was an obvious fraud and a deceiver. They call themselves “The Church of Jesus Christ,” yet they carry a false message through the Book of Mormon. They preach a false Jesus, a false God, and a false gospel. Joseph Smith is clearly shown to be a false prophet. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and only those who truly follow Him will be saved.

REJECT JOSEPH SMITH AND FOLLOW THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!
